Christy offers a 401(k) plan to help employees save for retirement. Full-time employees are eligible, with auto-enrollment beginning after one full month of service and full vesting from day one. POSITION SUMMARY
Are you passionate about helping people understand and make the most of their benefits? Our Employee Benefits Advocate will be a key resource for employees, answering questions, supporting enrollments, and coordinating with our vendors to ensure a smooth benefits experience. This is a full-time, on-site role based in our office, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.


POSITION DETAILS

  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee benefits questions, helping team members understand eligibility, coverage, and how to use their plans.

  • Support benefit enrollments (new hires, life events, annual open enrollment), COBRA notifications, and terminations with guidance from senior staff and vendors.

  • Coordinate with carriers, vendors, and payroll to resolve routine benefits issues and ensure accurate, timely data and changes.

  • Meet with employees one-on-one and in small groups, educating them about benefit programs and how to maximize them.

  • Assist with auditing benefit invoices and data reports to help identify discrepancies or potential cost savings opportunities.

  • Maintain and update benefits materials, intranet content, and employee resources to keep information accurate, clear, and easy to understand.

  • Support compliance and reporting needs by helping prepare documentation and ensuring deadlines are met in partnership with finance/HR.

  • Pitch in on other benefits- or HR-related projects as needed as the company and programs continue to grow and evolve.


Schedule

  • Full-time, salaried position based in our office, Mon-Fri, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Though this is an in-office role, we can work remotely from time to time. There is occasional travel in the St. Louis metro area, as well as 1-2 annual visits to our other locations to support Benefit Open Enrollment.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Strong communication skills and genuine empathy; you enjoy listening, explaining, and providing solutions to people who need help.

  • Ability to build trust quickly and maintain confidentiality in sensitive employee conversations.

  • Solid organizational and time-management skills; you can juggle multiple requests and follow through reliably.

  • Comfort working with data, forms, and details, plus the ability to spot inconsistencies or errors.

  • One or more of the following is preferred (but not required):

    • 1+ year of experience in benefits, HR, payroll, or a related customer-service role.

    • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

    • Familiarity with benefits concepts (medical, dental, vision, HSA, 401(k), life and disability).

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with UKG Ready/Inova or other HRIS/payroll systems is a plus.

Product Development & Application Engineer - Investment Casting [Christy Minerals]

Position Summary

The Product Development & Application Engineer - Investment Casting is a key technical leader for Christy Minerals' investment casting business across the Midway and High Hill facilities. This role combines sales engineering support, R&D/product development and field-based customer support to develop new products and technology, support plant needs and drive profitable growth. This individual will serve as a primary technical liaison between the plants (including lab and production), the sales team and our customers, helping to define product requirements, troubleshoot performance, and lead or support field trials.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Sales Support & Customer Interface

  • Provide advanced technical support and troubleshooting to customers and the internal sales team for investment casting products and applications.​
  • Develop a deep understanding of customer processes, requirements and pain points, and translate these into technical solutions, product modifications and new product opportunities.​
  • Support the sales team in preparing proposals, responding to technical questions and visiting customers as needed, including travel for field trials and key account support.​
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations, reports and training materials for customers, agents and internal stakeholders.​

R&D, Product Development & Lab Integration

  • Lead and/or support product development projects, working closely with operations, the lab and sales to bring new or improved products and technologies to market (this role serves as the primary R&D resource for Midway).​
  • Conduct lab work, including testing, analysis and documentation, to support product development, qualification, failure analysis and continuous improvement.​
  • Act as the technical bridge between the lab and the plant, translating lab data into practical production and product decisions.
  • Partner with lab leadership on priorities, test plans and interpretation of results to support both customer needs and plant performance.

Plant & Field Trial Support

  • Assist with planning, executing and documenting product trials at customer sites, including set-up, data collection, analysis and recommendations.​
  • Provide technical input to the plant on product specifications, process parameters and problem-solving related to investment casting products.​
  • Maintain accurate records of trials, customer interactions and technical issues in CRM or other designated systems.​

Market & Technology Insight

  • Monitor industry trends, competitive products and new technologies in investment casting and related markets and recommend potential responses or opportunities.
  • Contribute ideas for new products, product enhancements and application opportunities that align with Christy Minerals' strategic priorities.​

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Ceramic Engineering strongly preferred; Materials Science, Metallurgy or closely related engineering disciplines will be considered.
  • 3-5 years of experience in one or more of the following (preferred):
    • Investment casting foundry operations.
    • Investment casting product development or research.
    • Technical sales or technical service in investment casting or a closely related materials/industrial environment.
  • Candidates with less experience (including recent graduates) may be considered based on their demonstrated capabilities, relevant internships/co-ops and technical aptitude; however, priority will be given to candidates with practical industry experience who can contribute quickly.

Technical Skills

  • Solid understanding of ceramic materials, refractories, or related materials used in investment casting.
  • Experience with lab testing, data analysis, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to diagnose process and product issues and recommend practical solutions.
  • Proficiency with standard office software (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); familiarity with lab and testing software is a plus.

Work Environment & Other Requirements

  • The role is based at the Midway facility with regular onsite lab and plant work and travel to customer locations as needed.​

  • Domestic and international travel will be required to support field trials and sales activities; the candidate must currently hold or be able to obtain a U.S. passport and be willing to travel to target countries.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Rotary Kiln Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a high-temperature rotary kiln used in the production of specialized refractory and ceramic materials. This role requires strong critical-thinking skills, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to make timely operational adjustments to maintain product quality and safe conditions. The operator must be prepared to assist with manual clearing of chutes and crushers when necessary, using tools such as jackhammers and large bars. This position also requires working at heights as part of normal kiln operations.

This is a key role in a continuous manufacturing process and requires someone who is dependable, observant, and capable of working independently under a rotating swing-shift schedule.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate kiln controls and adjust temperature, airflow, feed rate, and other parameters to maintain safe and optimal kiln operation.
  • Monitor kiln conditions and evaluate product quality in real time, making responsible adjustments as needed.
  • Perform arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately to support kiln adjustments and production control.
  • Respond to operational issues, including clearing clay or coal blockages and assisting with chute and crusher cleanouts.
  • Maintain safe working conditions and follow all environmental and safety guidelines.
  • Record process data, monitor trends, and communicate changes or concerns to supervisory personnel.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to troubleshoot issues and prevent equipment damage.
  • Provide direction or information to coworkers when supervisory personnel are unavailable.
  • Work safely at heights as required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to learn complex equipment operation.
  • Responsible, dependable, and able to assume sole responsibility for a major piece of production equipment.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound operational decisions.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately.
  • Physical capability to perform manual labor when needed, including the use of jackhammers and heavy tools.
