POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual to support day-to-day quality and laboratory activities in a manufacturing environment. This hands-on role helps ensure products meet internal specifications and customer requirements through accurate sample preparation, testing, and documentation. The Quality Technician Assistant works closely with the Quality Control Technician and Plant Manager and is ideal for someone who values organization, accuracy, safety, and teamwork.

Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week
Schedule may vary based on business needs, including occasional overtime

POSITION DETAILS

  • Prepare, label, and organize raw material, in-process, and finished product samples for testing

  • Perform routine laboratory and quality tests following written procedures and work instructions

  • Accurately record test data and maintain logs, spreadsheets, and other quality tracking records

  • Communicate test results, unusual findings, and potential quality concerns to the Quality Control Technician and Plant Manager

  • Assist with the quarantine, segregation, and disposition of nonconforming materials as directed

  • Help maintain laboratory organization, supply inventory, and general housekeeping in quality areas

  • Support routine equipment checks and basic calibration activities per established schedules

  • Follow all safety, quality, and environmental policies, including use of required PPE

  • Participate in production trials, special projects, and continuous improvement activities

  • Perform other duties as assigned by plant leadership

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or lab-related coursework is a plus

  • Experience in a manufacturing, production, or laboratory environment is helpful but not required

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures and work instructions

  • Basic math skills, including measurements, scales, and simple calculations

  • Basic computer skills, including data entry, Microsoft Excel, and email

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently once trained and ask questions when clarification is needed

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods

  • Ability to lift and carry up to approximately 40 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodation

Location: High Hill, Missouri


POSITION SUMMARY

The Rotary Kiln Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a high-temperature rotary kiln used in the production of specialized refractory and ceramic materials. This role requires strong critical-thinking skills, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to make timely operational adjustments to maintain product quality and safe conditions. The operator must be prepared to assist with manual clearing of chutes and crushers when necessary-using tools such as jackhammers and large bars. This position also requires working at heights as part of normal kiln operations.

This is a key role in a continuous manufacturing process and requires someone who is dependable, observant, and capable of working independently under a rotating swing-shift schedule.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate kiln controls and adjust temperature, airflow, feed rate, and other parameters to maintain safe and optimal kiln operation.

  • Monitor kiln conditions and evaluate product quality in real time, making responsible adjustments as needed.

  • Perform arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately to support kiln adjustments and production control.

  • Respond to operational issues, including clearing clay or coal blockages and assisting with chute and crusher cleanouts.

  • Maintain safe working conditions and follow all environmental and safety guidelines.

  • Record process data, monitor trends, and communicate changes or concerns to supervisory personnel.

  • Collaborate with maintenance and production teams to troubleshoot issues and prevent equipment damage.

  • Provide direction or information to coworkers when supervisory personnel are unavailable.

  • Work safely at heights as required.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to learn complex equipment operation.

  • Responsible, dependable, and able to assume sole responsibility for a major piece of production equipment.

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound operational decisions.

  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations quickly and accurately.

  • Physical capability to perform manual labor when needed, including the use of jackhammers and heavy tools.

  • Ability to work rotating shifts (days, evenings, nights) on a swing-shift schedule.

  • Ability to work safely at heights.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
