Rick Merluzzi

Mr. Merluzzi serves as Chief Executive Officer of Metal Exchange Corporation (MEC), a leading global manufacturer and marketer of nearly 3 billion pounds of nonferrous metals-based products.   The company, which is family owned and headquartered in St. Louis, MO, operates seven U.S. manufacturing facilities as well as a joint venture facility in Italy.  Additionally, the company has sales offices in the US, Canada, China, Switzerland, and Singapore.  Mr. Merluzzi has led the company since 2015, transforming it from a owner managed to a professionally managed enterprise, which has experienced unprecedented growth via acquisition, alliances and organic growth.  

Mr. Merluzzi was previously President & CEO of MEC subsidiary company, Pennex Aluminum, a Pennsylvania-based producer of aluminum extrusions primarily to the automotive, transportation, building and construction industries.  Under his leadership the company more than quadrupled in size through organic growth initiatives and via the acquisition of the Leetonia, OH extrusion plant and the Greenville, PA casting facility.  During this period, Pennex was recognized by the industry association as number one in total customer satisfaction.

Prior to joining Pennex, he was President of Edlon Inc., a specialty manufacturer of fluoropolymer-based products, where he successfully led the company through the merger of two acquired companies.   In addition, Mr. Merluzzi held several executive positions with FMC Corporation including General Manager of their Food Ingredients business and their Specialty Peroxygen business.  He also served in the capacity of Division Controller, Marketing Manager, and Business Analyst during his tenure with the company.  Rick began his career with Mobil Corporation where he held positions in R&D, engineering, operations and finance including international assignments in Italy and Saudi Arabia.

Mr Merluzzi has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Pennsylvania State University and an M.B.A. in International Finance from Drexel University.  He is past Chairman of the Aluminum Extruders Council as well as the Society of Plastics Fluoropolymer Lined Products Section.  Rick currently serves on the board of several business and charity organizations.  He is a Distinguished Alumni board member of the Pennsylvania State University Engineering Leadership Board and currently resides in West Chester, PA.
